Where does subsonic store it's data?

Postby gardar » Mon Mar 26, 2012 7:30 am

Where does subsonic store it's data? Album covers, etc.?

I am quite sensitive about my music collection, so I don't want subsonic to be touching my music collection by inserting let's say .jpg files to the dirs of my albums.

ALL SS data is stored in the SS working directory unless you modify/edit the tags or download (change) album art.
Unlike certain media players  , SS will not write anything to your music files or directories, unless you instruct it to.

Oh that's good news.

I actually tried making a collection in SS with just two dirs and I found out that I got a file called cover.jpg when I manually fetched a album cover.
Will SS never fetch covers automatically like that?

Yep, just wanted to be 100% sure... Like I said, I am sensitive about my collection

But let's say I wanted to fetch some covers manually, is it possible to change the path?
So I'd have a single directory that includes all the covers or something like that.. Like xbmc does.

No, there is no ability to do that. Subsonic will read covers from the ID3 tag if there is no image in the folder, but it cannot store the images into the ID3 tag itself.
