Chrome seems to be the best player...

I've been using Subsonic for years now, and have tried different server hardware arrangements,
and pretty much every desktop player, whose developers have been very helpful and I support and appreciate all of them.

But I find myself using the web URL and Chrome despite the lousy UI (sorry Sindre) because it's the most reliable playback.

I know a bit about computers and networking (former MCSE and sysadmin),
and it seems that where and how the transcoding is performed makes the difference.
Can anyone enlighten me about why my browser seems to handle the task better than something running locally?

Please direct me if there is a topic about this already,
but the terms involved in this subject are common for effective search.

Have you tried recently - the forum has had a recent backend search database upgrade eg "video" and "android" are no longer common words.

ps I use chrome too as my browser of choice
