issue with java and subsonic control pannel

Hi, again, Last post I promise.

I have a problem with the subsonic control pannel. It's written in Java. That's not a good thing for me because I'm totally blind and use what's called a screen reader. This means that software turns any text I want into synthetic speech so I can hear what is being said either in documents, on websites, and in a lot of applications. However, Java has always been hard for the reader to figure out. There is an ap that sort of allows for java access, but it's pretty rudamentary. I can see the status and settings part of the control pannel, but that's it. I am wondering if there is a way to change those settings (E.G. a .ini file or some sort of text file) and how I would do it? I downloaded the stand-alone version of subsonic but I know nothing about java and .class files and the like. If not, well, I'll have to figure out the control pannel the best I can. It's just kind of clunky with my screen reader.

That's all there is so you are not missing much.
Providing you can see the memory allocation and port number you will not need anything else.

Changing the memory settings without the control panel depends on which OS you're running, as Subsonic is started in different ways depending on platform. Post which one you're using and hopefully someone can tell you how to do it.

The port numbers are found in subsonic.properties, but this file is also found in different locations on different platforms.

I'm using a Mac and the control panel never worked for me, and I've managed pretty fine without.

Subsonic uses frames which I've heard some screen readers have trouble displaying. If so, you might be interested in the HTML5 interface found in this thread: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=7553
