Fedora 5 is no longer supported by Fedora, or any of the third party repositories. If you want to run Fedora, you basicly need to upgrade at least once a year. New releases come every 6 months, and are only supported for about a year.

Fedora 13 was just released. I don't know that you can upgrade directly from 5 to 13, but you could try, or re-install.

With a current release, you can install any of those things with yum. Without, you will probably have to build from source.

I would upgrade.
