A step-by-step HowTo for a personal, headless and shared streaming music server.

Over trying, branching and stumbling through new problems, I ran into a bunch of issues … and was able to solve them.
So will you.

Shared, open Google Doc, 30p →http://bit.ly/subsonic-RPi

If you meet anything that needs correction: feel free and edit. Use it — don’t blame me for anything. I will not be able to answer questions as I mostly don’t understand them … neither the answers. And: I did this using a Mac. Other OSes may slightly differ.

Had a Pi sitting around and didn't know what to do with it. Definitely trying this and moving Subsonic off my Mac Mini.

I have successfully had this running for 5 months now. Works great. I did an SD card overclock and made sure I got a good power supply so I could overclock the pi as well. Diet-pi is a great. If your equipment is different they have it for many of the other small devices.... some of which have more power. One thing to note is you need to expand the file system to use all the space on the SD card you use. I noticed my 64 gb card only showed 30 gigs available until I expanded that. Diet-pi had a nice utility for that - dietpi-drive-manager....
