Donation

Postby rulimc » Fri Apr 09, 2010 6:37 am

Hi everybody!

I have been using Subsonic for quite a while now and I really love it!

I wanted to just say thanks and make a donation!

Then I also read, that if you donate, you get unlimited access to the apps?
Does that mean I wont have to buy them @ iTunes?

I just want to try both iPhone Apps and than later decide which one to donate to.

Thanks for an answer in advance!

Keep the good work up!

Hi, glad you like it!

The license you get when donating is for the Subsonic server, and allows unlimited streaming to apps and other features.

However, some of the apps (the iPhone ones) are made by third-party developers and must still be bought on App Store.

It would be great if the iPhone apps also could come as trial versions, but from what I understand Apple has some strict rules regarding that.

Thanks,
Sindre

Thx for the quick reply!

I am a student and have just donated 10€. :)

Hope this helps to improve this just so incredible piece of software!

Sadly Apple is always very restricted with everything :(
Once I'll get my hands on a credit card I'll check out iSub!

If you have to pay for the software to function, it's not exactly a 'donation' is it? Or does Honda give us free cars that you get full use of after donating $12000?

Well, Subsonic will work even if you donate, you just wont be able to use
the premium features.

When you by the basic Honda, yo will not get the complete package of extra gear and stash, will you?

Donors get access to premium features like:

* Unlimited use of Subsonic apps for iPhone, Android and AIR.
* Your personal server address: yourname.subsonic.org
* No ads in the web interface.

To be quite honest I don't see why the unlimited use of Subsonic apps for Android/iPhone should be a premium feature necessarily. I am all for donation (I do plan on donating this coming week actually) but when I am hosting the server, through my own host name, don't see the reason for the app use limitation. Oh well, still going to donate anyway, great project! (Only pet peeve is, and could just be me, is the Android Subsonic app will start up in the background by itself, and I don't like apps that start up by themself :P) Also get a bit of stuttering when playing songs on the app (web is perfect)

The way to stop that from happening is to reboot the phone when you are done with subsonic and make sure it is not in your startup list. A pain, but at least it will not be running when you don't want it to. Hopefully the devs will fix it as i understand it is an easy fix to not have it restart unless called.
But in the interim, stopping it with the different managers will not work, but if it is not started at startup, it will not load itself. I am still in the preview stage and deciding whether the software is worth the donation but at least I figured that out.

I do believe it is more than worth donating for, you deserve to be rewarded. The only request really is that when I stream on Android there is some stuttering (it is already loading the song ahead), it does go away tho' after playing for awhile. Any help on resolving that would be amazing, that is my only gripe

New Honda for 12k???

Where? I'll buy 2 at that price.

Even if the premium features aren't available. :D
