unofficial SUBSONIC NAS COMPATIBILITY LIST

I want to put Subsonic on a NAS, and was wondering on what devices all you config-fiddlers succeeded in getting SS to run on?
No Instructions on how to set it up needed, thats the job of another thread,

Just state what device (brandname and model number, maybe firmware version if you are aware of firmware that wont work), what OS on that device and what version of SS.

Also I'm not sure if this is the right forum, maybe help is more apropriate? Mods, you decide :)

unofficial SUBSONIC NAS COMPATIBILITY LIST:
    BRAND - DEVICE - NOTES
Qnap - TS-239 and upwards - freeNAS/unRAID/any x86 linux, any subsonic (this line of NAS devices has a x86 CPU, so Java and ffmpeg is readily available) HOWTO install Subsonic on QNAP NAS (x86 based) by L4ngley
    Qnap - TS459
Qnap - TS459 Pro (guide by Morkeleb)
    Qnap - TS-239 PROII
Qnap - TS-119 - (Marvell ARM), slow transcoding due to no ffmpeg for ARM CPU was used/found
Infrant readyNAS (x86 based, needs RAIDiator 4.2.14+ )(per files here: readynas.com forum: subsonic post by super poussin)
Seagate goflex - use admin login rights
Addonics NAS - use admin login rights
Synology - DS1511+ - guide by gamezonline and guide by gamezonline
Thecus - n5200 NAS - only ran after installation of a a debian lucid chroot environment, install was 'debian'.
Western Digital - MyBook Live - using debian subsonic version, transcoders needed slight adjustment - from here
    ...

(This List will be kept up-to-date from posts in this thread as well as from what I can scrounge from other threads as best as I possibly can. Especially with info from other sources details might not always be plenty, I apologize for that.)

Thanks beforehand for anyone contributing,
3R3

Subsonic is running on Qnap TS-119 (Marvell ARM)

Requires installation of Sun Java Runtime Environment for Embedded. Software Floating point. Then installing Subsonic Stand-alone version (all platforms)

Still haven't figured out how to make transcoding work properly. Need an optimized aac or mp3 encoder for ARM processor. The lame encoder is too slow (about 0.5) real time.

So, it runs on the thecus n5200 nas, albeit after I installed a debian lucid chroot environment, and did a 'debian' install.

Works fine on VHS-4 from Ve-Hotech !

Just get it on the Ubuntu Server Virtual Machine and follow the classical installation instructions (http://www.subsonic.org/pages/installation.jsp#debian)

i've made a QPKG for easy one-click installation of Subsonic on a QNAP NAS.
Please see: http://forum.qnap.com/viewtopic.php?f=128&t=45581 for details.
I hope this will add to the popularity of subsonic :)

Subsonic on native n5200xxx box

Hi,

Despite my not-knowingness I managed to install Java and the standalone version of Subsonic on my (original) Thecus N5200xxx with the latest firmware. This should run on all Thecus i386/i586 machines (Atom and Celeron procs)

Until now I have the latest version of Java available as an installable package, I have still to work on the package for Subsonic.

There is still a lot to do, Java runs now as admin, that's probably not a good idea. And there is my lack of Java knowledge, is user "nobody" a better choice? Of course I do not like to enable a security risk here ...

I understand how the packages should look like, but the code now is very ugly. Nevertheless, it works. Time will now be put on packaging Subsonic and cleaning up the code.

<Update august 14>
Java is working as an installable package (jre-6_26), Subsonic as well (4.5 build 2384). Both modules should work OK on the latest Intel based Thecus machines ... Still have to polish the code, but that seems not that important any more now it works. I've put no effort whatsoever in transcoding code like Lame, that can be done beforehand ... :D

Running perfectly on headless NAS

Device - Intel SS4200
CPU - Upgraded to C2Duo E4600 2.4GHz (Originally Celeron)
Memory - 2gb (upgraded)
OS - Ubuntu 10.04 Server x64
Kernel - 2.6.32-33
Library Size - 47000 400GB+

Subsonic Info
Version 4.4 (build 2169) – February 6, 2011
Server jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_20, Linux (58.0 MB / 85.6 MB)

Notes-
Java switched from IcedTea to Sun with no issues.
Works along side Serviio without problems. No problems with web, Android or Air clients. Accessing over LAN and Internet. Using https without issues.

I need to upgrade to a version of ffmpeg that I compile for other purposes so I will post back if additional flags somehow compromise SS 4.4.
