play:sub not connecting

I can setup play:sub to connect to my subsonic server when i'm connected to my local wifi that the subsonic server is also on. but if i disconnect and try to connect from the outside i am not able to. i am able to connect to my subsonic server from the outside using iSub or just through the web address. is there a setting i am missing on the app or the server or my router ?

port forwarding is all set and works as evidenced by the other app being able to connect

Hi,

play:Sub developer here...

If it works from iSub and web interface, it should also work from play:Sub.

If you DM me the server URL, I'll try to connect and see if there is something tripping up the app.
(alternatively, send a feedback email from within the app with the server URL).

update: it was my own dumb fault. somehow my phone had turned off cellular data for the play:sub app.
