And what would it take to convince you :-)

It's a feature that is missing in a MAJOR way to be able to play videos on an iPad...

I would need a good HTML5 JQuery based audio/video player to replace AudioJS. One that lets me build all the controls myself (play, pause, ff etc) and basically just provides a CSS customizable viewport or player. Maybe JPlayer, not sure what all else is out there. If JPlayer could basically be hidden behind the scenes and let me design all the UI controls, it might work.

I'd like some feedback on how people use video. Launch it then Fullscreen it? How does Subsonic stream video currently?

I'm out of good ideas, so I guess video support could be next, lol. I feel like Mike Rowe (Dirty Jobs) you keep sending in ideas and I'll keep coding.

JPlayer sounds good. Well on the webpage they're writing "totally customizable and skinnable using HTML and CSS". I'm very impressed by your JSaudio project and excited to see it w/ JPlayer backend sometime. I'd love to watch my videos via iPad.

Any update on this guys?
Flash has been disabled on versions of Android after 4.0 (for example Google Nexus 7 tablet). Which means there's no way of streaming video to my new shiny tablet... any ideas?
Is it possible to replace Flash with HTML5 on the Subsonic Web Front End?

I cannot even get the music to play with my new Jelly Bean update. I even force installed Flash 11.x and I get nothing. I can use the Android app for Music, but the video it still calls out to the web version and tries using the embedded player, with no success.

So, a different version of Flash was posted to the Nexus 7 tablet Apps subforum on XDA. I installed it and it works so far on my Acer Iconia A500 tablet for the browser players in Subsonic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthr ... ?t=1771463

I have been working on a possible html5 implementation for subsonic video streaming. Its still in the development stages but I have had success using VLC commandline to transcode a video in .ogg format. I then took the streaming link and put it in html5 video tags to watch it in google chrome. The audio and video are out of sync so that is one thing I am working on. If the overhead is minimal and it is easy to add a html5 streaming link in subsonic this just may work. I have a nexus 7 as well so that is what I will be doing testing on.

Considering that this thread has been running for a long time, has anybody successfully got HTML5 jw-player working in subsonic? I know all about MiniSub, so please don't refer me to that. I really need Subsonic working on the iPad.

I heard that iSub now supports video... a quick look at their forum seems to confirm it:

So, HTML5 or not, I'd say your "need" has been fulfilled...

No. I mean Subsonic. Not iSub. As in, the the nice looking web interface, which does everything except actually play music on the iPad.

Why do you need the web interface to work on an iPad when iSub works fine?

Because I prefer it. Furthermore, the topic for this thread is "Getting Rid of Flash", which in itself is a good thing, iPad or not.

I think that is the first time I've heard anyone say the web interface looks good :)

Heh. That isn't what I said. I said I prefer it. I am using the carousel mode, which works pretty damned well on the iPad. At home I use it as a jukebox controller, which people seem to prefer to the iSub interface.
