What is the status of the official update? Does Apple not give you any kind of indication? Tomorrow will make it 20 days. Thanks.

After a few hours of googling and learning ios deployment... got it to work. Finally.

Post any questions in this thread if you need help.

You'll need xcode 5.1.1 and to clone the git repo with the official git hub app to get the deltas.

Back to jamming on my phone !

Could you provide some instructions? And some links to the sites you used? I've cloned it, but can't seem to get it to work.

You're not the developer so you won't get an update about the status of the update. When I googled around it seemed like getting an update approved at the App store took a week or two. It's now three. My guess is that the update was rejected. The code does not compile on Xcode 6 which runs the latest SDK. It wouldn't be a stretch for Apple to require all apps to compile with the latest SDK.

I'm glad you got it to work. I am sorry I never got to help you. I have had a limited amount of time with my computer lately so I was putting my attention towards getting these builds out.

1. Download GitHub for Mac.
2. Get Xcode 5.0.2 or 5.1.1
3. Go here: https://github.com/einsteinx2/iSub & hit clone to desktop.
4. Open Xcode & open project file contained in what you downloaded from GitHub.
5. Follow steps 1,2 & 3 here: http://codewithchris.com/deploy-your-app-on-an-iphone/
6. You can either deploy by following step 4 on that link or simply go to product then archive
7. Then once the archive is done go to organizer then archives then distribute and choose ad-hoc.
8. You'll be saving a .IPA file that you can then upload to http://www.diawi.com/index.php & install using Safari on your phone.

Let me know if you have anymore questions.

what if you have a PC?

Can anyone compile the code for people and leave it somewhere to download? I am seriously missing subsonic after iOS 8 as well. There is no other good app that allows for song caching and thats essential

That's pretty much what I've been doing for people. All I need is your UDID.

This is more of a long term question, since I now have it working on iOS 8 (thanks to Kaptemplar):

Since Baron seems to be out of the game and he has offered to turn the app over to another developer, is there not anyone on this message board who knows how to develop iOS apps, who is interested in doing this? Or to use his code as the basis for creating a new client, since all the other existing clients suck?

I'm assuming that if the iOS 8 version doesn't get approved (and it's looking more and more like that is the case), then it will be pulled from the app store at some point.

I've played with somewhere between 10 and 15 music streaming/caching apps, some subsonic clients, most not, and not one of them comes anywhere close to iSub in terms of functionality and ease of use. The end of this app would be a disaster.

Well the code was posted under GPL3 at GitHub so I would imagine somehow, someway the code will be maintained in terms of compatibility with later SDKs. I seriously though you'll get new features though. I'll try to maintain the app myself or maybe even take a stab at making one depending on my free time. This is by far my most used app on my phone.

I just realized I had xCode 6, not version 5 that is required to build the app.

I've just started looking into iOS development, so I'm nowhere near versed enough to start modifying code. Has anyone looked at it to estimate how much work it would take to make it compatible with the latest version of xCode?
