Former PlayBook/webOS client "XO" released Open Source

Hi all! Been a long time since I've been around here. Gainful employment tends to suck all the time out of me!

Some may remember that a couple of years back, I had released a rather interesting (and some say very good, others say very confusing) Subsonic client for BlackBerry's PlayBook and all of the webOS phones and tablet.

Well, things didn't go so well for either of those sets of devices, and so I thought perhaps the world could somehow make use of it.

Source code for XO is available on github, over at http://www.github.com/ericblade/xo

It is written in Javascript, using the Enyo Javascript library, v1.0.
I've installed it using PhoneGap (1.3) on both iOS and Android, as well as on the previously mentioned webOS and PlayBook using their native web-application engines. It also worked just fine in Chrome, although I never actually tested it as a packaged Chrome application.

One of the really neat things about XO, I thought, was it's ability to manage both local playback as well as the server's Jukebox mode, practically simultaneously -- one flip switch, and you are controlling the server, even while media continues to play from the device you're holding. I used this once for a house party, had a couple of TouchPads providing music for front and back yard, while my PC provided the soundtrack for indoors. It was really pretty cool!

I do have my own discussion forum setup also just for XO, and any of my other work as well. That's available over at http://www.ericbla.de/

Thanks to all! Have a great day!
