Media Player Plugin

I have searched, but can't seem to find any information on the best way to use Windows Media Player with Subsonic. I can download a playlist file, which will play the playlist. But, how do I let Subsonic control my music while playing with Windows Media Player?

I do understand that there are other web based alternatives which work better. But, as I am listening while working, I need something that will work with Windows Media Player or WinAmp. These are the only two apps that will automatically pause if I receive or make a call. A perfect solution would be a plugin that would be installed with one or the other and allow Subsonic to control or let me access the music from the player.

Any suggestions?

Use the option to make a 'Player' styled as "External Player with Playlist" - then choose that player the next time you stream music...when you click play then in the web UI, it should launch WMP instead of playing natively in the browser. Now, depending on the browser, you may have to go into settings and ensure that x-mpegurl or some such MIME type is set to open Windows Media Player, instead of just using a Quicktime plugin, or whatever it is currently set to. But the first step is to create a Player that is set to "external player with playlist", under the Player section of the SS web UI options. Start with that, and proceed one step at a time until WMP opens "automagically". I have it working with Firefox and VLC, my preferred set up on my Mac - when I am on Windows, I use Firefox and Foobar2K, which works very nicely also. But WMP or WinAmp can and should work very similarly. In fact, I know I tried WinAmp at least along the way and got it working at one point. Good luck, let us know how you make out.
