Seems there are few to just me using Subsonic in the US with iOS or maybe I'm the only one having issues with random crashes and non-configurable settings in players. I've tested the players available in the US as of day and some are working better than others.
After upgrading to iOS 14 I found my installed Subsonic players no longer played nice. I've deleted each Subsonic players on my device and I've clean installed them along with configuration of each app to rule out stale settings etc...
• Audiophone for iPhone/iPad - Not available in the US
• Z-Subsonic for iPhone/iPad - Not available in the US
• SubHub for iPhone/iPad - Not available in the US
• SubStream SubStreamer for iPhone/iPad - One App two names. Version 4.5.9. This one is working for the most part, but I’m still waiting for the optimization stages to complete. I was not able to find a shuffle all songs or randomize all songs option. One can randomly call up some albums, but I’d rather shuffle songs. Not a fan of this one.
• play:Sub for iPhone/iPad - play:Sub was my favorite for a very long time. Sadly it has not worked for me since iOS 12 (random crashes and a strange song randomizer are this apps undoing for me). The same issues persist on iOS 14. I really miss play:Sub pre-iOS 12 updates.
• iSub for iPhone/iPad - I’ve been using iSub since iOS 12 and it’s the #1 Subsonic iOS player in my opinion. It solved my play random songs need. It’s a little flaky on iOS 14. It will not allow me to enter more then one server connection. Upon tapping the + to add a new/different connection the app crashes. Luckily I had added my outside address first, but now all traffic goes through net. The last update was along time ago in 2017. Would be great to see an update, but it was free and I thank the creator/s for a solid app that's lasted so long.
• AVSub for iPhone/iPad - First time trying this one. It crashed during configuration, but recovered alright. Seems stable for now. Further testing underway... Not keen on the UI flow. Does have a random songs option.
• Soundwaves for iPhone/iPad - This one just works. Minimalists dream come true. Not for me.
Maybe this will help someone... Your mileage will vary. I'm going to stick with iSub for as long as I can and fallback on AVSub when needed. Good luck iOS users if you are out there.
