+1 for blackberry app. @dcastellani and @carbonrough, the Blackberry will probably never be killed even though new toys like the iPhone and Droid do quite well. Some are locked to Blackberry due to it being a company phone.

number one phone in the usa currently is the blackberry

why not iphone or droid? simple , thats a end user phone and a VERY VERY small portion of the industry .. in oher words , because over 60% of all phones in the usa are COMPANY phones ( this includes all government and state issued phones ) , a huge chunk of us cannot just go out and buy X phone ..

so why the lack of apps for bb? .. corps do not pay to install apps on phones and the advert budgets for the cell phone companies and service providers goes to the end user who does buy apps for their personal phones. ( corp adverts are geared more twords those who buy phones in lots of a few 100 )

for those who care ( this a bloomburg survy from sep - numbers could be slightly differnt due to this years 4th qtr - but i doubt by much )

Curve
No. 1
13% of market

Apple iPhone
No. 2
8.3% of market

Storm
No. 3
7.6%

LG Voyageur
No. 4
7.0%

LG Dare
No. 5
6.7%

and for the record .. my curve ( company issued ) craps out as soon as it tries to load any page from my subsonic server , including wap ;(

PlayBook App

How about a PlayBook application? It runs Adobe Air, so maybe a port of SubAir?

Actually, it supports Flash too, so it could even just stream after logging in.

[edit] Support for HTML5 as well.

Working on a Playbook app as we speak. Just got to listen to my first song in the simulator! Still proof of concept right now though, and I don't have my Playbook yet which I'll really need to do some testing with. Look for updates in a week or two.

zereak, your figures really dont say much, your comparing phone models
the current mobile operating system market share is what you should go by, and that CLEARLY shows iphone with 35%of the market share. Blackberry rim at only 28%, android at 27% . blackberry was the choice for business, but that was quite some time ago, fact is iphone has become the new business phone (even though I hate it). IM an android guy, use it for business, infact our whole business does. I can't think of a single company I do business with that has blackberrys anymore. Its time to update your technology!

here is a map with more accurate figures

I'd quite like this feature too but since my Blackberry is my work phone and I don't have a good data plan I think I'd reach my download limit pretty quickly if I had this.

Still would be a nice to have though.

BTW I also own a Pogoplug (which is similar to Subsonic but not as feature rich) I bought for $50 and it works nicely and has a Blackberry app too.

Just got my PlayBook and might put my hat in to the ring of creating an application for it as well.
