Could you add a new feature to configure the root folder for Subsonic so I can point it at the new sd card location? I don't want to us the built in memory as it is smaller than my sd card.

If you need any info on file structures or someone to debug for you, give me a shout.
Thanks.

I don't fully understand this. Subsonic should save music on the SD card, no matter if it's mounted as "/sd", "/sdcard" or anything else.

In which directory is Subsonic saving files on your Galaxy?

Sindre

Sindre,

I also recently got a Galaxy S. The way that they do it is that it has a few gigs of app storage in flash, but the 8 or 16GB of device storage is an internal SD card (which is mounted on /sdcard). You can add your own, second SD card (accessible externally) to increase the storage capacity, and this is mounted on /sdcard/sd. I think that the request is asking for user-configurable storage location to be able to choose the user-added SD card rather than the internal SD card storage (which is the default Android SD card storage on the Galaxy S).

Thanks,
Andrey

in case it hasn't been mentioned, a widget would be tremendous. A 4x4 and a 4x1 would be ideal. When adding widget, give option to pick a particular server. Widget would display album art, previous, play/pause, forward, and a button to toggle online/offline.

If this also incorporated basic music playing of files on the SD card, then I would be able to completely ditch MixZing.

Is it possible to have the phone screen not sleep/lock when Subsonic is active? I listen to it a lot while driving, and it's a tremendous hassle to have to wake/unlock my phone just to check what song's playing. It'd be great to see an option, either under Settings or on the first screen, to keep the screen awake/unlocked while Subsonic is the active program.

Something a bit more intense, but undeniably fantastic, comes from the 2.2 (Froyo) SDK notes:

"The platform provides new speech-recognition APIs that allow applications to have a richer interaction with the available voice recognizer."

Is there any possibility of Subsonic having voice support? It'd be beyond wonderful to be able to say "open <album>, play/queue <song>" and have Subsonic do it. Granted, this might be too much to ask, but if it's possible, it'd be absolutely incredible. :)

I agree with the voice recognition, even though I know it would take a while.

An easy way to at least get basic voice recognition would be to put one of those microphone buttons on the search page, which is pretty bare as is.

I know that in Froyo there's some keyboard shortcut to use voice recognition in any text field, but a) I'm not using the default keyboard and b) most phones don't have Froyo.

I'm pretty sure that all Android versions have support for the microphone button.

Also, this is a really minor thing, and I don't think you could fix this quickly without an overhaul of the program, but if you set up Subsonic to scrobble your played tracks and you use the Android app, the the tracks scrobble when they are cached, not actually played, and they don't scrobble if you play a song a second time. I know it's a consequence of how the android player works, but I'm kind of anal about my last.fm library :-D

I would like to see an EQ for subsonic as i have a system with way to much base that cannot be adjusted. I have looked high and low for an EQ for the android OS, but can only find it within other apps ie astroplayer. Please someone let me know if i am wrong is there an EQ for the OS somewhere.

Download album option

Postby u-foka » Sun Aug 01, 2010 1:01 pm

Hy!

I've tried that app, and felt in love with it :)

The only thing I missed on the first day to be able to long-press on the albums and select them to be downloaded...

So I made it, and would like to share that with you hoping it will be included :)

Here is the patch for the trunk version r1696:

Cheers!

Is there a way to make it ignore the word "the" at the beginning of the artist name? That way artists like The Band, The Who, The Avett Brothers, The Clash, The Jayhawks, would all end up under the actual first letter of the artist name, rather than all grouped together under T. This may well be an issue more with the PC software as opposed to the app.

Subsonic does have this feature!

You should look at settings/general/Articles to ignore on your pc... or maybe update your subsonic server to a more recent version (it's there since I use subsonic so I don't know when it's implemented). But the default setting have 'The' to be ignored.

Ability to change font size in file listing would be nice. Text is far too big and wraps all too often.

Also a way to order files/folders on date modified.

+1 for remote jukebox
+1 for caching to built in memory

Also, I'd love to have some sort of lightweight jukebox player app (similar to softsqueeze for squeezecenter), which could be used to stream music to, and controlled via the Android remote. I currently use squeezecenter, but I really prefer subsonic (which is a complement to Sindre, considering the length of time that squeezecenter has been around, and the massive amount of development time that has been put toward that product).

Keep up the good work, Sindre! :D

your software has saved me. all my coworkers are jealous.

your android app is incredible, works seamlessly, but here are the top features i would kill to have in it (most if not all have been mentioned before already)

1) ability to organize and rearrange songs when creating a playlist
2) ability to queue the contents of an entire folder rather than just the albums within it
3) bluetooth/headset control over playback
4) homescreen widget
5) tag recognition would be nice, but it's at the bottom

again, your work is phenomenal, and as soon as i get paid i plan on donating again.

Longpress Options in Queue

Postby barretta » Wed Aug 11, 2010 12:35 am

Android app just keeps getting better.

Just some suggestions for more queue playlist options. On longpress of any track in the queue, add option to:

1) Open enclosing folder (in case you want to add other songs from the track's folder to the current queue)

2) Save track to a playlist - either to an existing one or to a new one (sort of like the on-the-go playlist on an ipod)

Keep up the great work!
