Change Port On Linux

Postby spazzmonkeys » Sat Oct 09, 2010 6:03 pm

I recently decided to put subsonic on one of the linux machines I have lying around. Unfortunately I'm not much of a linux guru, and I can't find much in the way of documentation for subsonic for linux. I installed the deb package on ubuntu jaunty. It worked great on port 4040, but I really want it on 80. I changed the port number in /usr/share/subsonic/subsonic.sh and /etc/default/subsonic, but it didn't work. Also, after I tried changing them back to their defaults, subsonic would no longer work on port 4040. Can anyone help, or point me to some documentation?

I also noticed that there's a script in /etc/init.d for the subsonic daemon with start/stop/restart commands. I have a feeling these would really help in diagnosing my port problem. What is the command to run this script? It looks like it's different than what I get when i run "subsonic."

after editing */subsonic.sh you have to restart the subsonic service running on your linux box.

run in terminal:

to restart
Code: Select all
user@xxxxx:~$ sudo service subsonic restart

to see what kind of options you have with the subsonic routine type in terminal:
Code: Select all
user@xxxxx:~$ sudo service subsonic

Thank you! That did it. That, and finding out that there seems to be some major error with my router making forwarded ports appear and disappear at random. Time for a new router.
