Many ISP's block anything that tries to set up a server on a residential network, in fact if you read your ISP agreement, it is probably specifically prohibited. That said, setting up and using homeservers is becomming commonplace and ISP's need to adapt to reality.
There are ways around the problem. First, look in your router's menus/tables and determine th IP address assigned to your access point by your ISP. This is your externat IP address. If you can't find it in your router, just google my ip address and go to any site that will report your ip address.
Once you know your external ip, you can check to see if your SS can be accessed from the internet by just typing in you ip:portnumber.
If that works, you then need to determine if yourserver.subsonic.org works, but in my experience, once you connect, the subsonic connection works as well.
