Any way to lock a user to a player?

Postby Shawnster » Fri Nov 19, 2010 9:04 pm

Is there any way to lock a user to a single player? Here's the scenario:

Server set up to play "jukebox" to the whole house audio system.
I have a user set up called "home-audio" that I want to use to control what plays in jukebox mode.

That user will log in from different devices: various computers around the house, an iphone, android phone, etc. Each time "home-audio" logs in, a new player is created and it defaults to play on the device that's logging in.

Is there any way to either have it default to jukebox mode or have it stop creating new players for the same use?

Thanks!

BTW, I LOVE Subsonic! Awesome software (and yes, I've donated) :D

I noticed something like that. If I log in from another computer a new player is created with a different session id.

However, if I use a saved bookmark/favorite from my browser and it had a session id attached to the url, I got the same player time after time.

Try using 1 session id and let us know how you made out.

I figured it had something to do with the session ID but how can I manipulate that on several different devices? Think iPad, iPhone, and Droid phones. There has to be a way for it to stop spawning players each time the same user logs in from different devices.

I think that is something that has yet to be implemented. You might try Feature Request forum and post this issue.

I have recently set up a server on my home media center running ubuntu. I would like to be able to control the music through subsonic clients running on two android phones. If anyone knows how to set it up, please let us know.

Tom:

If you only have the two devices, log in to subsonic, go to settings and set the player to jukebox mode. That will set the player to play the music through the server's audio out jack.

I have two users for now: admin (me) and my wife. Both users have three players set up:
admin - web player - android nexusOne - jukebox
wife - web player - android G2 - jukebox

When using subsonic android client, there is no option to switch between players. All music plays on phone instead of home pc.
