The best information I've heard is that video capability is in development for a future release, hopefully the next one. There's a kludge solution in the tutorial section, but it is not reliable. The player fails to initiate consistently.

Let's hope a new release is comming soon.

Thanks for your reply

Is there anyway of getting the videos to play in a external player? Like Windows Media or VLC?

That's easy, and it works! Just define an external player with playlist in the settings/players section. When you select the External player for playback it will call the default media player on the desktop calling for the video. I use WMP set to playback all defaults, but VLC works fine too. Be sure to install Klite codecs. Some .avi files don't play properly as they don't pass the play list in the format expected in WMP, but other than that everything I tried worked fine. Let me know if you have questions.

Hi Gary

Thanks for your help on this.

So I've created a folder with some videos in there, do I have to add it like I did with the music folder? I'm not sure what to do after this

I'm currently downloading the klite codecs

Thanks for your help

Yes just add the video folder as you would any music folder in Settings. Also you need to add the file extensions to the mask in the Settings/General "Music mask" box in order for the files to show when you select the folder for display.

Here's my music mask:

mp3 .ogg .aac .flac .m4a .wav .wma .mpg .mpeg .avi .mkv .ogm .mp4 .wmv .divx .flv

If you have any of those file extensions in your folders, they should show in the listings.

e.g. - Folder: C:\Videos

In that folder create a folder and name it "Test Videos" then copy several video file types into it for testing. If you set it up properly, there is no reason ti should not work. I've set this up many times under several SS versions going back to 3.9. It has worked every time without problems. Check you inputs carefully. Also make sure that the box is checked for the video folder you defined (Enabled) on the Music Folders screen.

I also uncheck all the transcoding boxes when I use an external player.

You need a space between the file extensions in the music mask. Easy fix. :D

In Windows 7, go to control panel, Default programs, Set your default programs, select the player you want to use, then "Set this program as default"

That will set the player to use all the default file types it can play.

Also - Subsonic looks much better in Chrome.
