Yeah but I used to have this structure even before the problem occured, it seems like this is why it lists album in artist tab, this is defenitly something sindre should fix.

Unlike most music software, Subsonic uses (primarily) directory structure rather than ID3 tags.

This has some advantages and some disadvantages. One down-side of it is that determining what is an artist, an album and a song in the search feature requires that the music is organized as an artist/album/song directory structure.

Sorry, I know it's not ideal, and that using ID3 tags only would have made certain things a lot easier - but the problem is that a great deal of users don't have a properly tagged collection.

Cheers,

I know this is an answer you don't want to hear, but I took a queue from Rhapsody, AmazonMP3 et al, who simply call the album by its title, and number ALL the tracks sequentially regardless of how many physical cd's it took. Since the physical format is for most intents 'dead', I figured why stick with the CD number convention? :)

I'd like to see a screen shot of the id tags for one of the albums that displays incorrectly.

I use EAC/LAME which has 'initial CDDB support' for the actual rips, then load them into MediaMonkey for detailed tagging..which uses Amazon's huge music collection tags. Sometimes I have to search Amazon servers (Canada, elsewhere) if the USA server doesn't have exactly what I need, but I often find multi-cd albums listed in numerical track order. HTH! :D

You can use MM to do this in a matter of moments, once your learn how to use it. There may be Youtube vids showing how-to's as well, but I can retag a multi-disk album faster than I posted this comment. :)

Yes, same here, but since it only affects a very, very small part of my collection, it doesn't really bother me.

I searched for the essential and Subsonic listed the Nazareth Album
"2004 - The Essential Maximum XS" as an artist. This album contains two two CD.

(My folder structure: Artist\Year - Album Name\CD1(if there is more than one CD)
