I don't know how long the attempts retry, but so long as they're isolated and correspond with you and others researching your access problem, I wouldn't worry. :)

Agreed. A7, we've been trying a lot of things by pm. I can connect to his site over my EVO by wifi or 3g. He can connect to my site and the demo site over wifi or 3g. He can connect to his site by wifi from outside his network, but he can't connect to his site over 3g. Any ideas?

It IS confusing. I can also connect to him both over my wlan as well as 3G (and my attempt fails on login creds, as expected, but port access is verified). I suspect something amiss wrt to the ports redirection, and his particular phone setup. The port I access on the .org addy is not represented at all in an NMAP scan, but I/we still have full access (minus an actual login), which seems inconsistent with how I've set up my SSL access. A port scan of my (and many other) setups shows the SS serving port AND the SSL port are active. I'd run some tests on the 3G side, canyouseeme.org and play with port numbers in the firewall until I found a compatible combo.

Seems like a plan... I will use some other port numbers... i have already used 3 different ones... i will keep trying !

There is one thing that I see a lot thought: via wifi, when I list the artists, I always get a 'connection failure / retry' or two, or three, before it succeeds...

So maybe the 3G protocol is less robust so to speak and fails 4 times... is there a way to increase the timeout in the droid app m

Thanks

I like Gary's KISS approach...modify minimally (eg. serve on port 4047, SSL port 447, etc.)

Hello again,

Have you seen this:

Working !

Postby ldecorps » Fri Mar 25, 2011 11:29 am

Guys,

I suspect it was the rooter that was playing up... ??? I will never know.
I ended up sniffing the packets to see if the call was actually hitting the server: it wasn't. I put my server in the DMZ and used std ports: it worked !
For there, I carefully setup the rooter, until I reach the situation now where it is all up & running, with SSL, in wifi or 3G.

:)

Thanks boys for scratching your heads with me.

Congrats!

It's almost always the router setup.

Actually I still have the issue

Postby ldecorps » Thu Mar 31, 2011 7:50 am

Hello there,

yes :(

It seems that under some circumstances (which remain unknown to me), I sometimes manage a 3G connection to my server. It seems it is router related.
As I said, for one thing I have to put my server out of the NAT to have some chances to connect.

What I do not understand is why, with the PC inside the NAT,
I can have access from a remote PC
and, most importantly
I can have access to the log in page from my phone via 3G !

There is something that the SubSonic Android App cannot do that my mobile Browser manages to do.

I have installed the new version of the droid app this morning but it does not help on that front :(

Other things I tried: I have installed opera, dolphi and firefox on my mobile. Only Opera does the redirection to my server. The others do not find my http address fro. The subsonic url.

Findind the reason to this should give me the key to my problem.

Kind Regards
