I wasn't able to install 2.3. It tells me the gadget is still active, and I need to shut it down in order to install 2.3. This persists after shutting down the gadget and even after restarting the machine. Anyone else encounter this?

I've never seen it happen after restarting the machine but I have seen stuff like this with other gadgets in the past. I don't know about Vista, but on 7:
Open Task Manager
Kill the sidebar.exe
Click to install the gagdet
At the point where you confirm the install (2nd window I believe), the gadget bar should come back up allowing you to close the gadget if it exists
Then finish the install

If I could make another wish for future releases, could it be possible to make it remember settings when you upgrade?

I like the new artist directory, thanks! I didn't notice the tooltips, but I'll make sure to look for them. This thing was pretty brilliant to begin with, and it keeps improving. =)

Glad to hear that took care of it for you.
Unfortunately due to the nature of gadgets, while not completely impossible, they aren't designed to retain settings after clicking the X.
But seeing how this can be annoying, especially with the upcoming ability to add multiple servers (and if updates keep coming out frequently ), the feature I am actually working on right now is a way to export and import settings.

(Also, I have been thinking about some of things you mentioned in your last email and I will respond later this evening)

Yes, updates seems to be coming almost every day, so with ten servers or so, that'll be a few keystrokes each week. =)

Just wanted to give a quick update on the progress of 2.4

Added Features

New Name = SubGadget
Better direct access to artist directory without having to type in the search box (that will still work though)
Ability to Backup and Restore settings
Ability to save multiple servers
Show Album when hovering over the Artist in the Track section of Search Results
The 'header' (playlist name, Playlists, Search Results, Artist Directory and Add button - essentially the black section of Don's skin in the side windows) will now remain fixed at the top allowing the Add button (and any future buttons) to remain within immediate access
Much improved tabbed settings page (exciting I know )

These features are all in place/functional and I will be sending them to the testers shortly....unless I decide to add anything else off the request list between now and then

Looks like an awesome set of improvements for 2.4! Thanks for the hard work!

Can't wait to get the test version - I pretty much just use the gadget now to interface with my server, and the next round of improvements should really mean that I wil not need to use the web interface...sweet!

I never use the Show Desktop button so I wouldn't have ever noticed that so thanks. I will look into it and see what I can do to prevent it from happening.
