I am loking into the same thing...somewhat. I'm currently working on a new subonic frame theme; where you won't have a left vertical navigation, but instead the navigation will be horizontal and replaced the main frame. It will look like this
- Code: Select all
________________________________________________
| top/player |
|______________________________________________|
| | |
| nav/main | |
| | playlist |
| | |
| | |
| chat | |
|___________________________________|__________|
The main nav will be have a horixontal alphabet running on the top while the middle will be all coverart that scroll left to right ot rigth to left with the simplisty of the mouse, or you can select the letter to scroll faster. then when you select the artist, the other coverart will move out of the way and the albums willl be listed, then when you select on the album, the main menu goes away and the playing album is in front while the other albums of the artist are behind floating in the background. The chat will be like facebooks chat system, running along the bottom. I haven't figured out which system or product to use for the navigation....Flash or silverlight or jquery

Loading times. If you have a gallery type menu, you will have to load all the coverarts....or maybe just have then load as you scroll...i dunno
What do you think? Imposible? A couple of years in the making?
