ephemeral guest pass (like flickr) for individual playlist

On Flickr, you can create a guest pass for private viewing of a single photo album (set). This makes lowers the barrier to share things with family/friends. It'd be great if we could do the same with music, ie. share a single playlist.

Use cases: perhaps you want to share some songs you recorded yourself with a potential producer, but don't want them to see those embarrassing Culture Club albums in your collection (sorry, Culture Club fans); or perhaps you want to share some _other_ music with your friends, and not have them laugh at the very private song you recorded yourself.

Then it'd be great if you could just make a playlist, click "create a guest pass for this playlist", and get a weird URL -- using this url gives access to this playlist, but nothing else.

Wait... how is this different than the current sharing option, except the password?

Now, for that goofy producer, create a playlist, choose "Share" from the "More Actions" drop down and send them the link. No login, no password, but no access to anything you didn't choose to share with them.

Maybe I'm missing something...

strange, I don't see such an option in my subsonic … but I do see it in the demo, is there a setting somewhere to enable it?

Doh! There is a setting … had to enable "user is allowed to share" in the user admin settings for each user. Guess it wasn't set as default on the upgrade to 4.5. Well, thanks for letting me know the feature existed =P
