Home - Recently Added tab sorts your albums as above

Did not know this. Thank you

+++1

This is the only missing thing keeping me from using Subsonic. Otherwise I adore the product. I have a crazy tagged collection with most songs in more then one genre with pretty specific genres which make using the folder structure impossible.

And another +1 for Genre/Artists/Album-support.

I have 300 GB of music and scrolling through endless lists simply isn't fun, nor practical. I have tried the Linux-version of Logitech's SqueezeServer (now called Logitech Media Server) but for some reason it refuses to scan a part of my library (around 10 percent), so that road is a no-go for me.

I would be happy with genre being added to the search feature. That way its only invoked when the user performs a search.

I'm not sure if this feature request is only for browsing by ID3 tag, but some of you might be interested in this mod: viewtopic.php?f=8&t=9504

It works by fetching genres for all your artists from last.fm, and you can then browse by genre, or generate playlists based on genre. I find it pretty handy.

and a +1 from me, too.

I can hardly use Subsonic without sorting features as in iTunes :/
Can a developer give any comment concerning this? Is it feasible? Is anyone working on this feature?

Im Using Subsonic now for ca. one year.
Im Comming from iTunes and shared my Music via forked-daapd. THe Problem with forked-daapd is, that it is very slow (on my music database size) and iTunes updates con completely make forked-daapd useless. So i decided to look for an alternative - subsonic.

In the first time i was on one hand completely stunned about the speed of subsonic. - truly amazing. But on the other hand i Missed iD3-tag based searching a lot.

i discovered 2 things: Musiccabinet (addon for subsonic --> http://dilerium.se/musiccabinet/ )
and itunes ability to sort folders. Rightnow i have really no trouble sorting folders and files - and updating them.

Here it workes like that: i have a MacPro where all the Music is saved - around 150k music files. All the Files and Folders are completely sorted by itunes like so: Artist/Album/tracknumber - Trackname.mp3

The Whole music library gets copied every night (before Subsonic updates it database) via rsync (only changes) to my server where Subsonic runs.

so i got 3 thnigs with it: a complete correct Filestructure on the server, a very nice way to edit iD3 Tags (and folder/filenames), and a backup of all my music.

and now to the second point, Musiccabinet:

This is the description from the Website:

musiccabinet

MusicCabinet is an add-on for Subsonic. It uses the free musical knowledge gathered at Last.fm, to help you:
create automatic playlists

pick one or more genres (pop, 90s, piano...), and get a playlist of matching songs.
pick an artist, and get a playlist of popular songs by related artists.
pick an artist, and get a playlist of popular songs by that artist.
browse by theme

pick a genre, and display your top artists that fits best in that category.
pick an artist, and display your other artists that are most closely related.
browsing is enhanced using artist image, artist biographies, genre descriptions, and album cover art.

It makes browsing via iD3 tag (mostly genre) unnecessary.

Try it!

In my opinion Browsing via i3D tags would kill the best feature in subsonic: speed!!!
In the Webbrowser it is also faster than my iTunes on 12Core MacPro (10.7.4).

So please only implement a Feature like this, when the speedyness ;) does not change!

Pcace

PS: sorry for my bad english....

Hey,

If read Subsonic have this feature now: Full support for accessing the media collection organized according to ID3 tags, rather than file structure.

I cant find any Option in SS to change the View?
