New Subscriber, Couple Basic Questions.

Postby atlantica » Wed Jun 27, 2012 2:52 am

Hello all:

I'm John. I run a medium-sized I.T. & cPanel Web Hosting firm in Portland, OR US.
Just this past weekend did I finally have time to organize all of the music that I'd converted from CD the past year, and, since I had some space left on my VMware box, I built up a Quick RHEL VM and set out looking for the best organizational tool for my collection.

I was so grateful to have found Subsonic after testing only two platforms prior to making my way here. After the first two days, I was so thrilled with it, that I was glad to donate to the cause.

Anyhow, pretty simple questions (so far)

Having far more DB/MySQL & PHP experience than in the Java department, it's taken me a while to get the feel for it again. The two things I need to do now are minor.

Globally (or theme-by-theme if necessary) modify the frames, giving left.view more width to prevent "side-scrolling".

- It appears the template I'll be adjusting is "/style/default.css"
Code: Select all
/* Put stuff here if you need to customize any of the frames. */
.mainframe {
}
.topframe {
}
.leftframe {
}
.rightframe {
}
.playlistframe {
}

Second, in the past few days of testing, I've uploaded about 120ish gb of my collection, so far. I've shared a few playlists and had friends QA it for me. But the number of visits is somewhat perplexing. I had over 800 "plays" on an album which I'd only shared via the Facebook and Twitter API's. How could the amount of plays shoot from 0 to 800 in a weekend? Are the locations of these streams being broadcast to other people running SubSonic?

That's about all I can think of right now. Any info you could provide would be great. Thanks so very much!

"only shared via the Facebook and Twitter "

And how many users do you think saw your posts, and how many of their firends, and how many of their friends friends and how many of their ...

Not exactly "viral" but it's a pretty good start.

Well, that's certainly something I'd considered but hadn't really accepted, considering that the environment had only existed for a few days, but does make sense.

Did I tag the correct CSS to globally modify the frame positioning in my first post?

Isn't it rather index.jsp where it says

Code: Select all
<frameset cols="15%,85%" border="0" framespacing="0" frameborder="0">

15% is given to the left frame, 85% to the main frame.

Interestingly, I've been testing SS on Server 2012 Release Candidate and Windows 8 Preview Candidate. In IE 10 you can adjust all the frames with the mouse, a feature I've been asking for since ver 3.8.

I guess it's a layout thing. You could set border="1" and have a visible border to change frame size for everyone, but some people might find it ugly / it will look different in different browsers.
