It happens with my local server via LAN (http, https), via external internet (https), and when using the demo site.

I'm running Subsonic Android client 3.3 on Archos 101IT. Connection is WiFi only, and configured to be unlimited.

This is EXACTLY the issue I am having, in fact it also happens more then once sometimes as well.

Also, just in case it matters, I am using a Rogers Samsung Galaxy Note model number: SGH-I717R (Basically the same thing as the AT&T Galaxy Note, except it's locked to Rogers instead of AT&T) Rogers is the Canadian equivalent of AT&T.

We had a similar problem in Froyo, that was resolved with a Gingerbread update. IIRC, in some cases it was caused by a stagefright setting with regard to media streaming. As luck would have it, there are some things we can try on these in the build.prop file (for those rooted, an easy chore to experiment). Here are the settings suggested to improve media streaming via build.prop:

# Increase Quality Of MediaStreaming
media.stagefright.enable-meta=true
media.stagefright.enable-scan=true
media.stagefright.enable-http=true
media.stagefright.enable-record=false

Rename exisitng build.prop, copy/paste and edit in your favorite text editor, move and rename edited file to original file location as build.prop.

Report back if your existing build-prop already has these settings, or if editing them as above helps at all. G'luck!

Ah, interesting - my phone is indeed rooted, so will try this and report back.

I've appended these lines to /system/build.prop and rebooted.
It doesn't make a difference, playback still stops and restarts, although it seems to take a little longer.

I got the same result as sciurius, that is to say it made no difference other then delaying playback a bit.

I have this problem on my new Galaxy S II. I didn't have it on my old phone (myTouch 4g) and I don't have it on my Tablet (ASUS Transfomer TF101). Problem persists in both Gingerbread and ICS.

The repeat seems to be wherever the buffer ends at the point when the song begins. So if the song is buffered to 3-5 seconds (which it usually does before it starts playing), it will go back to the beginning at that 3-5 second mark. If the song hasn't fully loaded by the time the repeat happens, it will happen again later (on 320 rips, it's usually at the 2-3 minute mark for my bandwidth). It's really rather annoying. Anyone have a fix for this yet?

E: I tried the APK listed on the first post of this: viewtopic.php?f=5&t=8497&start=210

Problem is gone. It's definitely an app issue.

Does the APK work on Gingerbread at all?

I have a Rogers Galaxy Note, which is still running Gingerbread. They promise ICS in July, but I don't trust Rogers much, they break promises all the time.

I don't know, I no longer have any Gingerbread devices :( It still seems a little buggy at times, but not quite as annoying as the constant repeating.

I once caught it doing as follows:
- start the song
- song starts playing, progress bar speeds from left to right in a couple of seconds
- when the progressbar hits the far end, playing restarts and the progressbar now behaves normally

It seems that it initially takes the size of a buffer or segment to be the complete length of the song?

I wanted to revive this thread to see if anyone had come up with a decent solution to this issue yet, because it is driving me nuts. I'm getting this behavior on my stock rooted Nexus 7. It is definitely not bandwidth, as it happens regardless of whether I am on my hotspot, at home, or at work. It is not the server, because it works absolutely fine on my wife's HTC Sensation (running CM9). I just did a wholesale, clean upgrade to 4.7 with absolutely no change in behavior.

I used to have this issue (or a very similar one) on my 1st gen Galaxy Tab 7. On that device, the switch to Stagefright codecs did the trick, but I have tried the same thing on my Nexus with no improvements. I am getting this behavior in both the standard Subsonic app, as well as DSub.

Please help! I love Subsonic, but this makes it unbearable to use regularly.

I actually no longer get the issue on my Galaxy Note using CM10. I get different, slightly less annoying issues. Now instead of looping back to the beggining, the song just pauses once or twice for a few seconds at the first play.

The initial annoying issue I posted about is gone since I switched to CM10.
