Album count and used disc space in doubt

Postby Moreno » Thu Feb 26, 2009 11:27 pm

I made a number of cross checks with regard to the album count and the used disc space displayed by Subsonic 3.6 (build 806) in the left-top frame.

It appears to me that these two counts are incorrect (too small), whilst the artist and the track counts are correct.

A rebuild/refresh of the data base did not improve the situation.

My reference tools are Total Commander and Media Monkey, which both deliver same results for my fairly large collection (1300 artists, 3800 albums and 59800 tracks).

Otherwise Subsonic is a great tool. :D :D :D :D :D

Any hint?

I have the same as posted in
http://forum.subsonic.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1611

I also checked all albums in subsonic against the dirs and albums in media monkey
every album seems to exist, so only error in the calculation.

Further tests revealed that Media Monkey, Subsonic and Windows Explorer report the same used disc space (~272,3 GB), but Total Commander reports ~292,3 GB.
I then used within Total Commander a different method to add up the used disc space and surprise, surprise, the result was 272,3 GB.

I now assume, that the differences are due to counting the used cluster space rather than the sum of all file lengths. It may also be due to counting the space used for directory entrances as well.

Regardless of the above findings the differences in the reported number of albums are still existing. :?: :?: :?:
