looks intersting, considering there is only one review and its 1 star, i am not willing to spend the dough.

You can tell if this version is any better by if there are any features that I have implemented (which I list) that you actually care about. As for trying it out I have put a apk up in the downloads section

Can you please improve the offline support?

I'd like to be able to choose playlists/artists/songs/etc that I want available offline.

+1

But I'm so glad that someone decided to wake this half-dead project up... thank you!

What would you want choosing it to be available offline to do exactly? Right now all you have to do is view the playlist and the playlist itself is saved offline, though when you then go to use it in offline mode it only displays the songs that have been downloaded.

Look at Google Music (Play Music) for example, you tick in each playlist to make it offline, then you can view each playlist and play/browse them offline.

This is almost there in Subphonic, but lacks to make a whole playlist offline, without having to play each song to make them offline.

Also let it sync automatically/manually to make sure it is the same as online.

Then we're talking! :)

Maybe some better GUI. Pause/resume on headset disconnect/connect would also be nice.

Do you have any plans for working on video playback? The main issue being the need for flash since Chrome has no support for it. Right now the best option is another app to switch between a brower with flash support and chrome based on domain.

Video playback works fine in Dolphin.

Right, it works fine in any browser except for Chrome which is unfortunately the best browser (my opinion) which necessitates the browser switcher app as mentioned above which to me is a kludge. Why not work toward the future, HTML5 or something completely different, than beat the dying flash horse? That's the reasoning behind my question.

HTML5 is on the list of implementation features. It just isn't here yet, nor does it look like it will be in the next final release.

Until then, workaround is the only option.

I have faith that Sindre will get there. I can be patient... as long as there is still a workaround...

To be honest not really. I'll look into if there is any easy way to embed a streaming video player without flash (not sure if Android sdk comes with support for video), but I have neither the time nor the resources to develop a dedicated video player if there is not a simple solution.

Glad I found this: good luck!

Possible to have Subphonic displayed in "Now Playing" instead of @Android?
Might bring a few more eyeballs and downloads your way.

Yah, I have been trying to work on UI stuff but it keeps frustrating the crap out of me so I do something else instead lol. I decided to start working on some less frustrating/easier stuff instead so I'll get some updates of actual functionality out.

jol wrote:Hi,
this is the list of (mostly quirks) I had for the original Subsonic Android app:
Android Quirk: jukebox stops playing when unplugging headset - do you support Jukebox? I love it..
Android wired headset buttons - double press support - would by new headset as the buttons are dead in the meantime..
Randomness in Play Shuffle of Android App
Search in offline mode on Android.
and for search in general I don´t know whether the client can control AND vs OR of search terms, but I´d prefer and.
Best regards, jol

I have been trying to work on search in offline mode. Getting something working was extremely easy, but understanding what SHOULD be displayed is a different matter. For example when I search for "Avenged Sevenfold" it shows 1 artist correctly, but then 2 albums that don't have that in their name but not 2 others that are it's albums, and a whole bunch of songs but not all of them. I can't seem to find any pattern in what is returned. It seems to be like it should just return things that actually match the string, but it doesn't seem to do that.

Curious:

In the description of App it says, "The differences between this app and the official version are:
Offline Playback"

Doesn't the official app have the same exact offline mode function?

I was trying to drum up support and get some purchases by sharing link to Play Store and three people immediately responded with that question casting credibility concerns on the rest of the claims.
