Great work, as always.
I am, however, very saddened to see that the issues surrounding the usage of "album artist" that me and others reported in the 4.7b3 thread have not been resolved in the final release. When an album artist tag is present, the artist tag seems to be completely ignored. Which is a disaster for compilations which have "Various" or such as the album artist - now the artist for each individual song is no longer shown, and the song does not come up in searches for the artist, even though everything is the way it should (eg. if the first song from Compilation XYZ is from Elton John and the others are from different artists, it _is_ the correct thing to do to tag that first song with Artist = Elton John and Album Artist = Various).
Clearing the album artist tag does prevent this from happening, but this essentially means that I will have to clear all my "album artist" tags (annoying), and then, when Subsonic returns to being sensible, reinstate them (even more annoying). Not that happy about that, especially because a) this means abandoning the "right" way to tag the music for a workaround, b) this is a regression from something that used to work perfectly in 4.6, and c) in order to solve a minor nitpick (the artist of the first track being shown in the album lists as the album artist) a much more irritating problem is introduced.
I suppose it is now too late to request a quick 4.7.1 release which, at least, introduces a "Use album artist instead of artist if present" preference that we can disable. But a man can dream
Anyway, thanks again for your great work, and all the other improvements in 4.7 are amazing!
EDIT: Just to clarify, I'm not suggesting that abandoning "album artist" is the way to go. I'm only proposing that it be only used for, well, showing the artist for each album in album lists (such as in the welcome screen and search results for albums), and reverting back to 'artist' for everything else (ie. everything related to songs individually, such as searching, showing artists in playlists/songlists and the like).
