Check with netstat and make sure nothing else is trying to use the same port.
I assume that its only SS that is affected and all other streams are ok as a flaky router could cause those symptoms.

Due to the confusion from too many genres of music, we have decided to put both country music and rap music into the genre of Crap music.

I restarted the router (AT&T 2wire) and reinstalled basic Subsonic (4.7 (build 3106))...jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_27, Windows 7

I checked netstat and nothing seemed to pop up that seemed abnormal. I pasted the log in a dropbox file, available here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/0wu4rsnzsnuh9i3/netstat.txt

I letting it run for today to see if it settles down. I experienced some skips earlier, but will check throughout the day. I'm also thinking about moving my backup of the library back into the music library I use for Subsonic. I just want to see if there are problems with the music tracks that are causing this. I tested it by playing them in Windows Media and Media Monkey and didn't notice anything, but I saw that there might be glitches in the tracks themselves that other music player sort out. I may have had some issues as I moved over from Ubuntu to Windows.

If that doesn't work, I'll try going back to Ubuntu to see if that'll make a difference.

Hi,

After a ton of searching...and a lot of help from Gary and Hakko...

I think I got it figured out. It primarily was (embarrassingly enough for me) a reinstall of the network card drivers for Windows 7. I also reinstalled java and flash on the host computer.

Thanks again all.
