Why "clean up database"?

Postby hakko » Mon Sep 24, 2012 7:31 pm

Can somebody explain why this is necessary / a good idea? Why doesn't the normal scan keep the database up-to-date?

hi hakko,

i found out it can be useful to do this not automatically.

all files in version 4.7 have ids in the database, so playlists references only on this id.

if you use a external drive and turned it off so the next media file scan set those files to not present.
after this scan the next cleanup purge this ids from the DB (if you want to remove this IDs)

in version 4.7 this is not well resolved because you lost the link between old and new IDs for playlists.

best regards
