With the latest svn trunk I still have a problem when I want to administer users.

/WEB-INF/jsp/userSettings.jsp (line: 122, column: 4) "${not command.new and not command.admin}" contains invalid expression(s): javax.el.ELException: Failed to parse the expression [${not command.new and not command.admin}]

I'm running tomcat 7.

Are you running Tomcat 7 and Subsonic 4.7? This thread is about MusicCabinet, a version of the Subsonic server where half of the original code is thrown out and replaced by new code to create a better streaming music server. As you can see, "command.new" has been replaced with "command.newUser", to allow using Tomcat 7.

My setup is working just fine. What advantage would there be to upgrading to Tomcat 7.

I don't think Subsonic as an application would run better on Tomcat 7, but you might be interested in using it for other purposes/applications as it supports newer standards. Security holes are probably found earlier on Tomcat 7 as more people are working on it, too. Looks like you make sure to run the latest release of Tomcat 6 which is good, though. http://tomcat.apache.org/whichversion.html
