Can't access via 3G after motherboard swap

Postby huff009 » Sun Dec 30, 2012 7:13 pm

So, my motherboard fried on me and I had to swap it out. Everything is back up and running with the exception of Subsonic. I am unable to access my server from either my phone or my wife's phone unless we are connecting over wifi at home. Once it switches to 3G, we can't connect.

Now, I went to http://www.canyouseeme.org/ and it is telling me that it can not see port 8080. This is the port I have always used with Subsonic, and I was having no problems before the MB swap. I don't know if it's related or not, but it seems it might be.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled the android client on my phone and that had no effect.

Anybody have any ideas on how to open that port back up?

Anyway, if anybody has thoughts/solutions, I would be eternally grateful.

Thanks,

Chris

My guess is your local IP for the computer hosting subsonic has changed. Did you try checking that the port forwarding is still setup correctly?

How do I test the port forwarding? I'll be honest, getting this set up the first time pretty much taxed my tech know how, so I'm not as fluent in a lot of this stuff as most on this forum.

Thanks.

1) Windows/Linux/OSX?
2) Router?

Ok, I got this problem solved. It seems that the installation of the new motherboard essentially assigned a new server for me. I now have two with the same name in my router configuration, and the new one is what is being used. The new one was also using a dynamic ip address. So, I assigned the static ip to the "new pc" and all is good in terms of 3g connectivity. Also, canyouseeme.org is reporting 8080 as open.

Thanks daneren2005!! Your tip about the local IP changing is what got me off in the right direction.

Yah the "computer" is usually designated as a single MAC address, which is usually assigned to the ethernet/wireless port on the computer which are usually built into the motherboard. So all this means when you change the motherboard the MAC address changes so the router thinks it's a brand new computer.

I am having the same issues, somewhat. I am brand new to this. I set up the server and isub. I can access everything fime while on wifi, but cannot access anything on 3G. Any help would be appreciated. It just seems to be a 3G issue. I can access the files through 2 other pcs on the wifi.

Thank you
