No - the ISP isn't going to set this up. This is something you have to do. As the previous poster illustrates, and has been shown hundreds of times previously, the problem is in setting up the router to forward the port to the server properly 99% of the time. Router setups can be a bit confusing if you're not used to the interface and no two routers are the same. We can call up the manual for your router and try to help walk you through it, but the bottom line is that you'll never get to Subsonic from outside your network until you get the forwarding rule set up properly in the router and can see the port as opem from canyouseeme.org. Page 57 of the manual describes how to set up port forwarding for a single port. As I look at the page I can't tell you how this particular entry should go to get it working right. You only need to forward http to get started. So you need to forward 4040 to the internal ip of your server. Here's where it gets tricky - it shows "External port" and "Internal Port" entry fields. When you send the request from outside it will be requesting to connect to 4040 - but that doesn't mean that the request is coming in from outside on that port. It sometimes helps to see other examples on the router of ports that are already open to see what needs to go where. The external port should probably be left blank or be "Any" and the internal port should be 4040. Don't get confused and put in port 80 anywhere. Only try getting http up first - if you get that right, then go for the SSL setup if you want. If you can edit the application name - put in Subsonic so you can id it easily when you're in the router admin pages. It's hard to know exactly how to get all this exactly right without actually having access to the same router, but this is the core of your problem and it's usually not understanding the grid on the right side of page 57 that is the source of the problem. If you have Skype or any other app that has already set up a forward rule you should be able to look at it and see what needs to be done.
CAREFULLY read the tutorial a few times through to be sure you understand what is needed.
viewtopic.php?f=6&t=4867Read the first two posts a few times to make sure you have a good overview and then take it step by step slowly making sure that you get it right at eack step. If something doesn't work as described in the tutorial post where you're having the issue before ploughing ahead. Each step is important.
