I, too, would like to see an official build be compiled and posted on a site like sourceforge. It would be good to see a changelog tracking the actual changes made to the base, subsonic, and where this project is heading.

I just donated to get the Android optionality to learn it's all about Flash so I'm out in the cold here, but I don't want to ditch something that might get better for something I have no clue what it offers.

I've played with GIT in the past, but don't have the luxury of time to review all changes to figure out just what's going on with the fork.

Hey guys... sorry for the lack of updates but here's a quick overview of what's happening in Supersonic:

  • license key and donate functionality removed -- open source in Supersonic means free and open source
  • Audio focus in Android client improved
  • Fast scrolling enabled in Android client
  • "offical" compiled builds posted to Github coming soon
  • Continuous integration environment setup so everyone can monitor code health
  • And yes... we'd also like to see the end of the Flash player video playback across the web and Android clients.

An even better place to look at what's being planned is to check out our Issues page.

PS... a quick way to get started is to install JDK and Maven, then run
Code: Select all
mvn install
from the project root. This generates a WAR file for you to deploy to your web server.

There are two active forks of the Subsonic server, MusicCabinet and Madsonic. See viewforum.php?f=8

MusicCabinet is open source and up on Github (https://github.com/hakko), Madsonic seems to be some kind of semi-closed source (source code has been requested but not posted).
