Mood Era Instrument search

Postby ForSSUx » Thu Mar 21, 2013 7:27 pm

Hi there,

I really like this mod..the genre and Radio are fantastic...I hope you go further with this idea..

I have almost 300 000 tracks of Library music...this is music that one can use in tv programs to augment a atmosphere one would like to create.

In essence we tend to search for a romantic, aggressive "mood" or sometimes we think some piano can do the trick or if we show a movie of the WW2 music from that "ERA" can be great.

For economic reasons we don't use music from "Know" artists.

So do you think if there's a change we can choose a Radio on more then "Genre" tag

Already thank you for reading

It has been suggested before to use local genre tags for the radio, instead of tags fetched from last.fm. Using mood tags seems very similar to that. Out of curiosity: how many people use these? is mood only used in mp3s, or is an official tag in other formats too? Do you manually tag your music with mood tags or do you use a program for it?

Is "ERA" a tag that you use or do you mean the standard release year tag?

Just to be clear: I'm not working on supporting these tags right now. I'm not against it, but it's not top priority right now, so don't expect it to pop up as a feature in the next release.

Hi Hakko,

We have 5 editors who make short movies ranging from 1 minute to 15 minutes...

We can't use comercially available music..
Last.fm can't help us here because well it doesn't know of this music....
Here are some names of the labels RADAR Koka EVO etc sometimes this music is from several seconds to several minutes long.
We get this music from several distributors in the form of a hard disk..an example that runs from the internet is this http://www.sonofind.com/search/html/mus ... sprache=EN
So we have like 4 different distributors today who each use a little program that only looks in its own collection.
This small programs loads it database into memory and this takes time ...from 30 secs to 3minutes for the biggest provider.
This is the reason I start using a always on program like Subsonic.

We can't always use the internet and also from historical reason the library is located in house.
Most of the metadata is in each song , but a part of the metadata is in a xml file .

Eras is a tag we can search on some of the ERAS are 1500 1600 1800 1920 etc so we actually look for music from that period.

I'm already very pleased with the existing solution and I also like to fiddle around myself.
If you can point me to the files and which function that makes this clock tick I would be very happy

Do you think it's a wise idea to integrate the missing metadata from the xml files into each mp3 song itself or is there a better way to handle this.

Again I can't stress it enough thanks for reading this far.

MusicCabinet is built around tags found in music files. There's no option for importing meta data found in xml files. Currently, only genre and year tags (not mood) is read and stored in the database.

Have you tried the advanced search feature in MusicCabinet? If you press the magnifying glass next to the search box, it'll give you an interface where you can add a few different search options. If you add "Track genre", it should give you all genres found in the tags of your scanned files. If you choose one of these tags and press search, is that output useful for you? You can add Year as well to limit the search to a time span.

In version 0.7.24, you can now browse your library by genres taken from file tags, instead of from last.fm. viewtopic.php?f=4&t=9777&p=54573#p54573

Hi Hakko,

I just read the statement and in the following days I'm going to install it at work.

I already put al the music in folders and it seems old and new music together we have a little more then 502.000 songs over half a million thus.

Subsonic has no trouble with it and it runs on Freenas 8.3.1 release "also brand new"

I'll keep you informed as I guess not many people have over 500000 songs.

Kind Regards for your effort.

subsonic2.PNG

And for a better search up to Musiccabinet now.

First thing first replace java with the 7 version .....let me look in the forums of Freenas how to do that...

Kind Regards
