1) Weird track sorting: I'll need some more info to diagnose this. Can you click the arrow and go to details and see if there is a track # listed for that song both in offline and online mode. Also, can you go into the tag editor on the server and look at the disc number of the tracks?

2) Bitrate: When online mode can you do arrow -> details to see what it says the cached bitrate is? I'm curious to make sure that they match. If they both say 128 kpbs then something else might be going on here.

3) Various Artist: What version of the server are you on? I changed it so that it tries to pull metadata from the tags in offline mode instead of just going based off of path. This was to make it match what is shown in online mode since in 4.7+ the artist sent out by the server was actually the tagged artist and no longer the root folder. I'm guessing that if you fix the tags for the artist it will fix this issue, but first let's make sure what the root cause is.

I'll get back to you re: the first 2. But, I am on 4.6 (build 2583) – December 6, 2011. I know it is old, but what I have been hearing about 4.8 is that it sorts artists and albums by year, which seems sort of odd, to me. Is this true? Can it be changed in settings?

I haven't heard anything about sorting by year, but there have been a bunch of other random problems people have been having with 4.7/4.8, so I completely understand not moving to them. But that is why some are showing up differently in offline/online mode. That should be fixable by fixing the tags to be what they should be.

Still using and loving this app! Would it be possible to add a Scan media folders now option.? I have to rescan the library when I add new things and I often have to login to the web browser version on my phone to manually rescan.
thanks again!

Not unless Sindre adds it to the server API :?

I was totally stoked about it. I ordered one as they were still talking about it during the announcement. It will probably never happen for DSub though. If you go to the download page they explicitly say are not allowed to post the source online if you use the SDK, which instantly kills the possibility since DSub is a GPL project. I died a little inside when I saw that. I have no idea why they thought that was a good idea.

And that is the biggest reason ChromeCast will fail (besides the limited codec support, WiFi only-ness, no true high bitrate vid/aud support). Android is an OPEN SOURCE platform (for the most part). Just before the release of CC, they were talking up the _openness_ of the platform. The CC is a Netflix/Amazon Instant/G+ photos plug...that's all.

I would say it is priced too low to fail honestly. Realize that we are the minority. And I don't mean 20% minority, I mean significantly under 1% minority. You say ALL it can do is Netflix/Youtube/G+ photos, when in reality that is all it needs to do for 99% of the population. Limited codecs/bitrate limits just don't matter to the average consumer as long as the what they want to use does it correctly, which they will. Hell even I didn't cancel my order once I knew that I couldn't use DSub with it, because it still offers a ton of functionality that just plain out didn't exist for me before. But yah, they have been delivering some real kicks to the nuts lately with their "We are open source...except for this, and that, and that" crap.

I don't know if you noticed, but they changed the ToS have changed since yesterday:

Warning: The current Google Cast SDK is a preview SDK intended for development purposes only. Google may change this SDK significantly prior to the official launch of the Google Cast SDK. We strongly recommend that you not publicly distribute any application using this preview SDK, as this preview SDK will no longer be supported after the official SDK is released (which will cause applications based only on the preview SDK to break).

I'm assuming this means you can use the SDK now for DSub, and just change it after the SDK leaves "preview".

Yes I had noticed that today. I will have to start looking at integrating it then. I wonder how well it will play with the default transcodes from subsonic or if there will be any other issues. Only time will tell and I have my fingers crossed.

Bug in current version: in the current playlist listing of now playing, track downloading is not consistently shown. What I mean is the little animation that shows how much of the currently downloading track has arrived. Most of the time, I am not seeing any of that info and all of a sudden the arrow turns from gray to blue.

Odd. I can't seem to get it to happen to me. I did some optimizations involving not doing extra drawings of that, so I probably screwed up somewhere, I just can't figure out where. Any chance you have noticed any type of pattern of when it doesn't show up for you?

It seems to often happen when I first start playing an uncached album and it needs to download the first 4 songs. In fact, sometimes the first song's arrow remains white (or gray, can't remember which), the second/third, etc. songs turn blue one by one (without the progress ever being displayed). Eventually the first song also turns blue. It is weird, occasionally I will see the progress but it seems now to be the minority of the time. Main device is an n4 now running 4.3 but I've seen this on other devices too. Sorry, not much help I guess.

I'm having a similar problem. The problem where download progress isn't shown has happened only maybe twice since the update. However, today I had a problem with playing entire albums and the first track getting skipped. The track would be at the beginning of the play queue and it would get downloaded, but the player just skipped straight to the 2nd track.

Alright I can confirm it is an issue, I was able to reproduce it. No idea why still, but I will figure something out.
