Playing Video

Postby tberman333 » Tue Oct 01, 2013 1:26 am

I have a number of movies and tv shows on my server that I want to be able to watch remotely (from a laptop or my Android). None of my videos play at all on my android (even when I am on my home network on wifi) and on my laptop (again on my home wifi) they buffer a lot.

I am thinking it is a problem with the transcoding. The server is on a Windows 7 machine that has a quad core 2.8 Gig processor with 6 Gig of RAM.

I do save my videos in fairly high quality... as either mp4 or avi files at standard definition bitrates very but are normally around 1200kbps (as I watch them at home as well), but was hoping subsonic would be able to stream the videos to my devices also.

Any ideas how I can get these to work? Would I need to save lower quality videos just to stream?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Same here.

I can make most of my videos from my Subsonic server (Subsonic Premium) play on my Android Samsung S3 by using the VLC app.
But many high bitrate encoded mp4 just don't play on my phone even with a local 72Mbs wi-fi connection.
I use the dSub app btw.

I use the Server4.9.beta4 (build 3810) – 04 January 2014 with a stream command:
"ffmpeg -ss %o -t %d -i %s -async 1 -b %bk -s %wx%h -ar 44100 -ac 2 -v 0 -f mpegts -vcodec libx264 -preset superfast -acodec libmp3lame -threads 0 -"

I use Player: 'External player with playlist'

Just wish I could get it to work in a Apple Safari browser. These devices don't support Flash.
