Subsonic not finding new additions

This is getting very frustrating. Subsonic has started to not display any new albums added to my music media folder. Always worked fine in the past but now I constantly have to go through the following procedure (as recommended by another subsonic forum user): Un-check the media folders, Save, rescan, clean db, rescan, recheck folders, and then rescan.

Whilst this works ok, I have to re-do it every time I add anything new. I'm using Windows 7 and my media is on an external HD. Pretty standard setup really and I haven't had problems in the past. I know others have had this problem but no-one seems to have come up with a cast-iron reason for it or a sure-fire, permanent solution. I also use Bubble upnp which isn't as feature rich but at least it works. I may have to switch permanently if this isn't fixed.

Anyone got any ideas?
