Hello.

Subsonic 5.0.beta1 is released with the following changes:

New: Chromecast support.
New: Added play overlay button in cover art images.
New: Added browser notification.
New: Nicer scrollbar (in Webkit browsers).
New: Nicer styling of input fields and buttons.
New: Nicer icons.
New: Added Estonian translation, courtesy of Olav Mägi.
New: Added Korean translation, courtesy of Rhetor Choi.
New: Added link to Jamstash.
Bugfix: Fixed broken Mac installer.
Bugfix: External player doesn't auto-advance.
Bugfix: Improved support for https in UPnP.

Working good so far - have not been able to test Chromecast yet. Feature Request: In addition to having the left column list artists, can there be a drop-down or radio button to list albums?

Video playback doesn't begin when pressing the play button from the file list. It pops up the video player and then requires a second click on the player to initiate playback.

Attempting to play a second video puts the player in black void. Refresh required to play another video.

Chromecast works and looks great!
Requests: 'Float' the screensaver rather than stutter, which appears to have long delay and little movement.
and I would love the CC feature to apply to client machines rather than just the server (unless I'm doing something wrong...). Cheers Sindre!

just installed

I used to have a transcoding problem with 4.9 from flac to mp3

I fixed it by creating a new transcoding line just for flac and using ....

"ffmpeg -i %s -ab %bk -v 0 -f mp3 -map_metadata 0:0 -"

instead off

"ffmpeg -i %s -ab %bk -v 0 -f mp3 -"

But since upgrading, this does not work anymore, I am again getting following error in logs...

ffmpeg was updated on 3/19/2014 for SS...have you tried going back to original script?

Hi,

i extracted ffmpeg file from the 4.9 deb package and replaced the ffmpeg file in /usr/val/subsonic/transcode/ folder with the extracted one

but now on playpack i'm getting...

"Failed to transcode A Design For Life. Using original."

which doesnt then play in browser or on android phone?

Am i doing something wrong?

Some feedback on the setup routine on Windows.
I performed an upgrade on my setup after moving the core dirs to a brand new server.
New server is Windows Server 2012 and had no java support.
After pointing the installer to my copied directory on the new server it detected no java installed and installed a compatible version automatically. The installer found my old DB and upgraded with no issues.
New interface graphics are looking better and performance has been great in many different web browsers and platforms.

On my setup all my files live on network shares so file paths remain the same.
Just keep in mind if you move your libraries around playlists will break.

I have been having issues playing most m4a files. One or two seem ok. All mp3 files seem to play fine. I do not know what the m4a's have in common yet.

This is a major bummer. I was really hoping 5.0 would fix this DLNA problem. I tried it and agree that it's still broken. Not sure how anyone is using the feature until this is fixed...

The m4a files that will not play in the playlist have a curious output. In the playlist list, between the year and the file size is this string "ogg oga aac m4a flac wav wma aif aiff ape mpc shn" where I believe it should just be "m4a".

I've been using BubbleUPnP app (android) on my Nexus 5 and 7 tablet as control points to send from Subsonic to my renderers. Works a treat.

I can confirm DLNA doesn't work with windows 8.1 media player.
The player finds server but "no files found" message when you browse for music.
