MusicCabinet Dead?

I just redid this from scratch using the following steps:

git clone https://github.com/tthomas48/musiccabinet.git
git clone https://github.com/tthomas48/subsonic.git
cd libjahspotify/
signup for spotify dev account and place AppKey.h in native/src/main/native/inc/
mvn install
cd ../musiccabinet/musiccabinet-server/
mvn install -DskipTests=true
cd ../../subsonic/subsonic-main
mvn install -DskipTests=true
cd ../subsonic-installer-standalone
mvn package


Your file should be in target/subsonic-installer-standalone.zip

Ok that works! Not sure why it wouldn't work earlier. This gives me a zip with a stand alone installer.

Only it doesn't seem to work. To be absolutely sure I was doing notthing wrong, I tried the latest stand alone installer from the musiccabinet site & that one does work.

The strange thing is that there seems to be nothing going wrong in the log, but I forgot to backup the log. I am going to try again in a VM later today & I will post again.

For now I just stick with the freshly installed musiccabinet, because I sort of want a working subsonic server. I also tried madsonic & I liked it, but the way Musiccabinet organizes LastFM information is still superiour imho.

Hmm, thinking about this more I bet the problem was the lack of libspotify (https://developer.spotify.com/technologies/libspotify/) on your system. My version is definitely still in heavy development, and unless you're willing to dive in and work on the bugs it's probably not appropriate for everyone. I'm going to try to keep pushing forward towards a new release though.

Just posting to say I continue to watch this thread with interest. The Spotify integration isn't a particularly high priority for me personally, but just the fact that someone is fanning the embers of MC back to light gives me great hope.

I would love to contribute, but alas I'm not a developer. I've been wanting to learn to code, though, and I can't think of anything I'd rather code toward than enhancements of MC (I have a number of things I'd love to see added someday, even if it's only on my personal installation).

Just out of curiosity, what languages/protocols would I need to know? (And I am of course aware that even that is probably a dumb question).

Subsonic/Musiccabinet is written in pretty straightforward java, and the pages are just simple jsp pages.

Don't know... I did install libspotify system-wide with: sudo make install prefix=/usr/local
That should work isn't it?

Didn't test libspotify with the spshell example, because this is on a headless remote debian server.

could you please help me with the installation (some guide for ubuntu ) ? Or shall i just follow the top post on this page..
Is it already "semi-stable" ? so that I can use this version of Musiccabinet to replace the original?
