Streaming FLAC

Postby aakjpe » Wed Dec 13, 2017 12:25 pm

Hi.
Quite new her, so the subject may have been solved/ignored.

FLAC files played via Subsonic, streamed to the DAC in a Hegel H160 amplifier via wi-fi (cable)
But are they streamed in MP3 quality?
Looks like all files are converted to MP3:
ogg oga aac m4a flac wav wma aif aiff ape mpc shn MP3 ffmpeg -i %s -map 0:0 -b:a %bk -v 0 -f mp3 -

Am I right?
So I loose the lossless quality?
Or use another transcode? Or no transcoder at all?

By default Subsonic streams your music in mp3.
If you don't want that you could try disabling conversion.
This can be done via Settings > Players > Unmark Active transcodings. This is a per player setting. Which would be a good choice because you than can confige one player for use at home and other players for streaming on the internet to other devices where soundquality isn't that much of an issue.
If you dont want any transcoding at all you could try Settings > Transcoding > Unmark Enable this transcoding for all existing and new players.
Also you might have a look at this post http://forum.subsonic.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=17667&p=74993&hilit=flac#p74993 where another transcoder in stead of ffmpeg is discussed.
Next time when you want help on something or have a question you might post your question in the Help section, please.
