Audiobook Genre

Hi
I've been using Subsonic for music and added my Audiobooks.
However using Dsub on my Android, filtering and searching isn't the best (tags or multiple genres would be great).

I was thinking of using Audiobook-StarWars, Audiobook-Childrens, Audiobook-Wahammer40k

Any reasons why this is a bad idea, any better ones?

You might take a look at Booksonic. Booksonic is a Subsonic Server and Android client aimed at audiobooks.

I have installed Booksonic on a different machine, but currently can't see any books in it compared to Subsonic which works.

As it is a fork of subsonic with text files for summary and reader. I am tempted to stay with Subsonic (as I presume they can't run on the same machine).

In Subsonic under Mediafolders you could define a new folder Audiobooks and let that point to your Audiobook folder.
If you want your audiobooks arranged in some logical way I would think that using the Genre tag and the Albumartist tag would be the best way.
You could also try setting up a subfolder structure in your Audiobook folder using the various genres as foldername.
In the Genre tag you could use Audiobook-Science Fiction, Audiobook-Children, Audiobook-Detective etc.
The author's name goes in the Albumartist tag. ( By some strange way Subsonic doesn't use the artist tag when you're searching for an artist but the albumartist tag.)
Sadly Subsonic doesn't allow multiple genres and it neither support searching in the comments tag.
You could install both Booksonic and Subsonic on one machine but you'd have to make sure that you change the port for either one of them since they both use port 4040 by default.
I've installed Booksonic to see what it is and I'm underwhelmed. It's just an old version of Subsonic that's tweaked a little bit and it really doesn't have any advantages over Subsonic at the moment.

I need to update the Album Artist and will look at testing with different "Audiobook - ..." genres.
I often forget the name of the Authors and books when listening to different theme, i.e. all Warhammer or all Star Wars books.
So filtering down to that level by using different Genres hopefully will do it

Don't know if you're using windows, but if you do you might look for MP3 Tag. Freeware program and incredibly usefull when you have to change a lot of tags. You can enter genres by hand.

BTW you know that Subsonic automatically creates bookmarks to get your audiobook going where you left off?
