And if I fill those tags, do I need to rescan the library, or will it just load the lyrics from that tag as soon as the song plays?
Well, I do not use FLACs and I do not know how subsonic handles FLAC-Tags, which to my knowledge are VorbisComment-Tags.
In MP3s the tag-format ID3v2.3 or ID3v2.4 ist used and the tag for lyrics is the USLT-tag (UNSYNCEDLYRICS).
In VorbisComment the lyrics-tag ist called "LYRICS" instead.
So you have to test how subsonic handles your lyrics-tag in FLAC-files.
There are a lot of tag-editing-programs. I personally use MP3Tag (
https://www.mp3tag.de/en/index.html) which to my opinion is the best and most flexible. Most flexible also means that in order to use all it's features you have to learn how to use it. The basic features are easy to use.
MP3Tag has the ability to define mappings in the options, that means, that you can define that the tag UNSYNCEDLYRICS in ID3v2 should be mapped to LYRICS in VorbisComment.
To my knowledge you do not need to rescan the library, as subsonic looks for the content in the file, but I never tested it.
I searched for lyrics and filled the UNSYNCEDLYRICS-tag over years, partly automatic, partly manually. If you add a brand new album it is often not possible to get results in searching. So it is necessary to repeat the searching some time later.
There are some srcipts to do it automatic or half automatic. But naturally the results are not 100% correct with the automatic way.
Most of automatic seraching and filling was done by me with MediaMonkey and it's plugin Lyricator. (
