Folder Not Showing In Index

Postby Scootman1911 » Mon Nov 19, 2018 2:31 am

I have one folder that's not showing up in my index and I'm not sure why. I thought maybe I had too many folders indexed and it was getting cut off but there were folders after the missing one that showed up fine. I also deleted a few folders just in case and it didn't seem to do anything. The name is the same format as every other folder and I know the file path is correct. It has a "-" in the name but I have another folder that shows up fine with the same character.

Anyone know what the issue could be?

not every '-' is the same '-'. There are some unicode hyphens that may be in file names that aren't the typical character on the keyboard, similar to how there are different angled quotes. Try removing the hyphen you see, or explicitly replacing it with the one on your keyboard, then re-scan?

I tried changing the dash into spaces, I tried shortening to folder name in case there was a character limit, I changed all the special characters in the artist folders to English characters, nothing's seemed to work :/

Are you using 6.1.4? In other threads, it appears that it is having problems showing folders if it doesn't find a match to them in an ID3 or in last.fm. Seems the feature to try to find artist images got over zealous and broke the indexing.

If you are, consider wiping and installing 6.1.3. (export all your playlists so you can reconstruct them)

You don't happen to have a link to the previous version, do you? I quickly browsed through the website trying to find a link but couldn't.

https://sourceforge.net/projects/subson ... /subsonic/

You can access the link above by clicking on Downloads on the Subsonic Homepage. It's below the main download links and is called "Older versions."

Ahh damn, I blame needing to leave for dinner for overlooking that link lol
Thanks! Let's hope this works.

Edit: Can you only have 11 folders in the index? I downgraded and accidentally signed into an account I'd given access to 11 folders and the one I was missing showed up. I signed back into the admin account and the folder was missing again but I had 11 folders in the Allow access to these media folders under Users so I disabled one of the folders I don't really need, refreshed the index, still nothing but now, under Allow access to these media folders, the missing folder was just unchecked.

Edit: Nevermind, I realized I deleted a bunch of folders trying to figure out the issue in the past. I added a few more and they showed up. So.... I'm guessing it was whatever the issue in 6.1.4 is? Or special characters? Both? I just stay at 6.1.3 until the next update just in case though. I finally got it to work so I'm not messing around anymore lol
