Random play entire collection

This may be a newb question but I can't seem to figure it out. On the home page, I see the links for random, newest, highest rated etc. Except for the most frequent and most recent, these other links are empty. I want to play my entire music collection randomly and can't seem to figure another way. Am I missing something? I see my collection and can play songs/albums individually. Please let me know what I am doing wrong.

Click More at the top and there is a choice to make a random playlist of up to 50 songs.

The other Random is meant to show random cover art. I would guess after your server has had time to go through your entire collection it should start showing random cover art.

thanks jonathan for the clarification. i set the path for playlists and found the 'more' setting. I tell subsonic to generate a random playlist. it flashes and acts as if it is going to do so but no dice. no playlist created. if i go to the bottom i can clearly see options for loading and saving playlist but non are being generated. what am i doing wrong?

The playlist created is your active palylist, not a saved playlist. If you want to save the random playlist you can do that once it's loaded.

Ok, understand about saving/not saving playlist. Still a bit foggy on the function though. may be it is not working right for me. I tell subsonic to generate a random playlist. my screen flashes as if doing something. nothing else though. is my player suppose to begin playing the list? am i suppose to do something else? seems like there is either something that isn't working or a step that is missing. thanks for your patience. I really like this player but would like this feature.

I logged into the main subsonic site and tried out the demo. NOW, I see what is suppose to happen and can better describe my issue. When I click on the playlist generator, the screen flickers and the bottom says Playlist Is Empty. I can see my library to the left. I also checked the path for storing playlists (and tested it). So, that all seems ok. Ideas?

That makes it sound like it might be adding it to another player. Do you have more then one player listed at the top left in a dropdown? It would be right to the left of where the flash music player is.

I have seen where you are actually viewing a different player then what you are adding music to. Thats the only think I could think of. If so you can choose the dropdown and see if you can figure out which one is yours.

Brilliant! I took the time to label all the players and this is the issue, in the current stable build (3.6). Need to test 3.7b1 again as it did NOT resolve it there. Will put up another post shortly and confirm.
