Can't Access My Subsonic From Work

Postby Son of Spam » Fri Apr 15, 2011 4:44 pm

So I've finally been successful in setting up my Subsonic client and now have Android access.

Problem is, when I try to load my Subsonic client at work (I had it bookmarked) I get an error message saying "Firefox can't establish a connection to the server at localhost:8080."

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks.
I'm running an HP Mediacenter m7060N computer with Windows XP Service Pack 3. Version 5.1 (Build 2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.100216-1514: Service Pack 3)

unless your subsonic server is running on that localmachine localhost:8080 will not work. You need to use your servers address when you enter in the server information. This could be either the external ip of your server or the subsonic address that you have registered with.

My computers is turned on. I'm able to access it Subsonic on my Android phone.

So, everything is up and running on the source end.

When I enter the subsonic address I've given it (https//internationalgarage.subsonic.org) into Google's URL bar, nothing comes up.

Where would I enter the server information if I can't access the client?
(Not trying to be difficult, when I ask that...I'm really just inquiring, lol!)

Thanks.

Sorry I misphrased, your browser is your client.

The error message you posted in your original post:

Suggests that you were trying to access your home server from remotely with the localhost address.

Your most recent post now does indicate that you are trying to access it from the remote address, which was not indicated before. When you can access it through android has that been on wifi on your local network or remotely over 3g or someone elses wifi network?
