[Feature Request] "Default User" settings

Postby bushman4 » Thu Jan 17, 2013 3:58 pm

I would love to see the option to specify a set of settings that apply to all new users by default.

This could be done as simply as having a drop down list in the settings of existing users from which you can choose one to hold the "default" settings for new users.

I am this close (holds fingers together) to switching my stock subsonic site that everyone connects to to MadSonic, but when I did a quick test with a few users, the first things I heard back were "I don't like it. There is no Now Playing or Chat anymore!"

Now we both know that these DO exist, and just need to be turned on or accessed a different way... but most of my users have NEVER seen the settings screen. They just log in and it "works." So I would like to be able to have things like that turned on by default, and let the few tech-savy users find the options to turn them off if they want to.

Lastly, if you are considering this request, the final quirky thing that I would love to see is, when setting that default user, the ability to say "choose an avatar at random and assign it to the user." But I'm probably the only one who cares about this one...

Thanks!

Chat can be found by clicking the "Social" icon at the top, or there is a setting (disabled by default) to show it on the right-side panel.

I do see what you are saying about default settings; there's only a certain amount of permissions that can be set for new users automatically.
