Left Sidebar Customization w/ Index

Postby hastur » Fri Feb 24, 2017 3:00 pm

I've been using Subsonic for a few years now and have always enjoyed the streamlined simplicity of the controls but the recent changes to the left sidebar could use some changes. I keep my collection separated in media folders by genres, so having the left sidebar index and the drop-down list has been extremely useful.

In the recent versions the index was removed but a setting to 'show index in left sidebar' was put under the Personal settings, great! However, I would really like the ability to show/hide/move the other Subsonic elements from the left sidebar that are not navigation related.

(from the top left corner)
    Log out (username)
    Internet radio
About Subsonic (essentially a duplicate of the first item on the list, linking to help.view)

It would be nice to have a config option in Settings > Personal to move these elements back to the top toolbar, rather than take up room on the left sidebar. This would allow the Media Folders Drop-Down and resulting index lists to maintain the most display space on the screen.

Oops.. one other thought... in the "Change cover art" screen... the images come from Last.fm now? If there are multiple images available... can there also be a image resolution tag under each of the names?

Many thanks in advance.

+1 on the image resolution one. i know most are in the 300x300 range but if one's better, nicer to know up front. When using an app optimized for TV, the bigger the better.

In order to use subsonic semi-professional on a stream server, this kind of customization is mandatory for me.
I wonder why even Subsonic Premium does not allow for this.
Example: why letting my visitors learn "about subsonic"?
Subsonic got all features I need, I actually need less.

I keep on looking for alternatives that allow for such basic modifications of the UI.
